As you all know and don't understand or understand, but don't know, I am now going to a three week-day summer camp. And as I simply live in New Hampshire, the camp I go to is called Peacock Players Summer Camp. If you don't know exactly what that is, then I'll explain. It's a camp for people who love to act, sing, and maybe even dance. Some people go there because they love to act and sing, but don't have they courage.
Anyway, they first day of camp was amazing. Like nothing I thought it was going to be. I have been going there for four years now and I love it. Now, to many, camp is a place of fear or just a scary place because, unless you know someone who is a friend of yours that's going, you don't know anyone and is afraid of making a bad impression, but in this camp it teaches you to not be afraid of judgment and just be yourself. So, today I was in a new group. By that, I mean my group was always Group C. I am now older, so I go to Group D. The ages strike from Kindergarten to High School and brakes up into four groups with the youngest at the starting point of Group A, then B, C and lastly D.
The one thing that made this camp year better then the rest was because the people who criticize others because they are better then them aren't here along with a whole bunch of my friends. Another is that since no one criticizes anyone, we're all our goofy and weirdo selves. It's a whole lot more fun that way. Plus, since I know a lot of people there, I am way more spontaneous than I was and, as almost always, but not really, I made friends with basically everyone including the counselors. So a big "Hurrah!" for that.
The only thing that makes being in the oldest group different, is that we are not, I repeat, not going to do a play, which is unusual for me, because we do a play every year. I guess, in this case, it's only different because we are doing three comedy improvisation scenes and one dramatic/serious improv scene. Improv, if you don't know, is when you do anything and everything without lines, or a script. It can be tough or easy depending on if you can think of something to say at a snap.
I, however, am good at it because a lot of things come to my mind at once all the time. It's very hard not to think of several things and pick up things through sight and sound, but if I truly try, I can block that all out. The thing is, though, I don't want to.
Seeing as though I ramble, I'm going to finally get to yet another reason why I love this year's summer camp. (As a side-bar note, I actually had two camps. One at Camp Sargent and the other, which is now. One of the people from my other camp actually came to this one's and it's kind of strange, but we're friends.) Okay, for the second reason why, is because I learned a bunch f new games, I will not explain them now, but I will later and they are basically improv games. Besides, I cannot think of them all, at the moment.
The third reason is because we already have a catch-phrase for our group: "If you know what I mean..." is our catch phrase and if you say it mentally or outloud after every sentence you hear or say, then you can have a joke on your hands and you'll be laughing and no one will know what you are laughing about. So, it's basically humour for all.
For another thought, every year there are two sessions of camp, and I only go to one. For two years it was the first and for these two years, it was the last, so I guess it all depends on when my friends are going. To close this message up, I will probably, but not definitely post tomorrow on how it went, but until then, see you later!
